Diane Ladd, Famed For Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Dies at the Age of 89.

This award-nominated actor Diane Ladd has died 89 years old.

This star, with roles spanned National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, died at her home in Ojai, California. Her passing was announced in a statement shared by her offspring, award-winning actress her daughter Laura Dern.

Her daughter, who performed alongside her mom in a number of films including Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose, referred to her as “my amazing hero plus my profound gift being my mom”, stating that she was by her side during her final moments.

“She was an exceptional mother, daughter, grandmother, star, artist along with caring individual that only dreams could have seemingly created,” she stated. “We were fortunate to know her. Her spirit soars with angels.”

Beginnings and Major Success

Ladd’s early career saw supporting roles in television programs such as Perry Mason whereas the seventies had her appearing with Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.

During that year, 1974, she performed with Ellen Burstyn in Scorsese’s acclaimed film the movie Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Her acting earned Ladd her initial Oscar nod as best supporting actress.

1980s and Beyond

In the 1980s, she starred in the thriller the movie Black Widow plus humorous film National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and also took part in the sitcom Alice, a comedy program inspired by Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.

In the subsequent decade, she received an additional supporting actress Academy Award nomination for her role in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart where she acted as the mother of her actual daughter Dern’s character. She kept appearing alongside her daughter in dramatic comedies the film Daddy and Them, Lynch’s the movie Inland Empire and Mike White’s comedy-drama series the program Enlightened.
