Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
