Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the uproar from his televised remarks.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match subsequent to voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I understand there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the games following the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and starting to win games.”
