The Gangster Drama Ready to Come Back with a New Era on the Small Screen

The hit crime drama is coming back to screens to track the endeavors of a fresh wave of the Shelby family following World War Two.

The final broadcast season, which aired in two years ago, was promoted as the "end of an epic story", although the team noted the plot would "progress in a new way".

A soon-to-be-released feature film, beginning during the war, will feature Cillian Murphy reprising his part as head of the family Tommy Shelby.

That film will now be followed by another two seasons, which "will be set in Birmingham and will narrate the tale of a metropolis recovering of the wartime bombings", writer the mastermind commented. "The younger Shelbys of the family have assumed control and it will be a thrilling journey."

What to Expect

The show will pick up in the mid-20th century, when "the race to own the major urban renewal becomes a fierce battle of epic proportions", according to reports.

"We see a location of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family at the very center of the violence."

The program will be broadcast on a major network in the UK and on Netflix around the world.

Cillian Murphy will be part of the creative leads, however it was not revealed whether previous cast members from the original run would return on screen.

Peaky Blinders began in 2013, and has so far tracked the street gang through the early 20th century. It won outstanding drama at the prestigious awards in recently.

The plot will move to the 1940s for the film, named the feature, which will include Cillian Murphy with award contender Barry Keoghan, veteran actor a British star and the sci-fi star a leading lady.
