The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry title that players explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two creators whose work have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a fresh setting and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their steady belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our common bold, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
