Approximately 55,000 homes have currently been harmed by the rains, with their possessions and temporary homes destroyed.

Intense rains over the recent period have intensified the already dire circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as reported by humanitarian groups.

"Horrendous" Conditions Brings Severe Dangers

A official detailed the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"These conditions was exceptionally difficult for the residents. The heavy rains were so intense... And the winds were so strong," said the official.

There is grave concern that minors sheltering in makeshift shelters in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Destruction

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses triggered by the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts indicate a higher death toll. Officials reported that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces submerged.
  • Many people forced to find new shelter.

Relief Efforts Seen as Insufficient

Groups have stepped up deliveries of tarpaulins, warm covers and garments after the truce commenced, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid entering.

"Agencies are striving constantly to bring in that relief and to distribute it, but the scale of the necessities is so immense that we continue to see many thousands of people and minors who are really struggling nightly," stated one official.

Ongoing Issues and Truce Terms

The next stage of the ceasefire involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.

Relief organizations have stressed the imperative for "greater and continuous aid to address immediate and future needs."

The conflict was initiated by an attack in late 2023. Following actions have led to a significant number of lives lost in the region, according to medical reports.
